Amazon Haul vs AliExpress (2026): Which Is Better for US Shoppers?

Amazon Haul is the simpler, lower-risk choice for small US orders: it runs inside your Amazon account, caps items at $20, ships free from $25 and carries Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee. AliExpress suits a wider range of goods above Haul’s cap, with its own Buyer Protection and US delivery targets. Return windows depend on the listing.

Key takeaways

  • Haul is a store inside Amazon; AliExpress is a separate global marketplace with its own account, checkout and dispute system.
  • Haul caps items at $20 (most under $10); AliExpress has no Haul-style store-wide cap.
  • Amazon quotes one to two weeks for Haul. AliExpress’s 2024 US targets were 5–12 calendar days for Choice orders and 8–14 days for other marketplace orders.
  • Haul: free returns within 15 days on eligible items over $3, items $3 or less final sale. AliExpress: free returns within 15 days of receipt on eligible items, per its Buyer Protection page.
  • Both are affected by the end of US duty-free de minimis treatment for low-value parcels.

Prices: which is cheaper?

Both sell inexpensive, often unbranded goods, and similar items can turn up on both. The structural difference is the ceiling. Amazon caps every Haul item at $20, and CEO Andy Jassy said in July 2026 that Haul had over six million US items priced under $10. AliExpress is a general marketplace, so it also carries pricier electronics, tools and parts that Haul cannot list. A Retail Brew test order in late 2024 showed a Haul package shipping from China, one reason shoppers compare the two.

What makes a cart cheaper in practice is the threshold math. On Haul, orders under $25 pay $3.99 shipping, and Amazon takes 5% off Haul orders of $50 or more and 10% off orders of $75 or more automatically. On AliExpress, shipping is set by listing, so compare the total at checkout rather than the item price. We have not run our own Haul-versus-AliExpress price check yet; the method we plan to use is described on our Haul vs Temu price index page. Why Haul’s prices are so low is covered in why Amazon Haul is so cheap.

Shipping time: Amazon Haul vs AliExpress

Amazon’s Haul help page says Haul purchases arrive in one to two weeks and that times vary by delivery location; Haul orders are not Prime eligible. In March 2024 AliExpress announced US delivery targets of 5–12 calendar days for Choice orders and 8–14 calendar days for other marketplace orders, with a $1 coupon if an order missed its estimated delivery date. Those targets predate the 2025 customs changes described below, so check the delivery estimate on the AliExpress listing. Haul’s timing and how to read your estimate are on Amazon Haul shipping time.

Buyer protection and customer service

This is where the two differ most. A Haul order is an Amazon order: Amazon’s help page says Haul purchases are covered by the A-to-z Guarantee, and problems go to Amazon customer service through your Amazon account. Our Amazon Haul customer service page lists the official routes.

AliExpress runs its own Buyer Protection program. Its page promises a refund if an item does not arrive, arrives damaged or is not as described within the protection period, covers items lost in transit or not delivered within the guaranteed window, and asks buyers to raise claims for mismatched, damaged or short items within 15 days of receiving them. Disputes start with the seller, with AliExpress able to step in. Whether Haul itself is trustworthy is covered in is Amazon Haul legit.

Returns: Amazon Haul vs AliExpress

Haul’s rules are simple and short. Eligible items over $3 can be returned free within 15 days of delivery, half the standard 30-day Amazon window, and items priced $3 or less are final sale. The full process is in the Amazon Haul return policy.

AliExpress’s current Buyer Protection page offers a Free Return service within 15 days of receipt on eligible items, using a return label it provides, and says change-of-mind returns are otherwise at the buyer’s cost. Its March 2024 US announcement went further, describing free returns on eligible items started within 90 days of payment, with the first return on each order free. Because those two statements differ, read the return terms shown on the specific AliExpress listing before you buy.

Import duties after de minimis

Both platforms ship many low-value parcels from overseas, so both were hit by the end of US duty-free de minimis treatment. A CBP rule published in the Federal Register says the exemption has been suspended for goods from China since May 2, 2025 and for all countries since at least August 29, 2025, and made the suspension indefinite on June 24, 2026. Money reported in August 2025 that AliExpress was among the platforms affected. Amazon has not published how duties affect individual Haul prices; what we know is on our Amazon Haul import fees page.

Amazon Haul vs Temu vs AliExpress

All three sell very low-cost goods, and many shoppers compare them together. Haul’s advantages are structural: one Amazon account, one checkout, a hard $20 cap and Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee. AliExpress offers the widest range and its own protection program; Temu is a separate app with its own policies. Temu’s side, with sourced policies, is on our Amazon Haul vs Temu page, and fashion-focused shoppers can read Amazon Haul vs Shein.

Is Amazon Haul like AliExpress?

In spirit, yes: both offer ultra-low prices in exchange for slower, often international shipping. In practice, Haul behaves like a part of Amazon, not a separate marketplace. You keep your Amazon account, saved addresses and payment methods, and one customer service team handles problems. If your main reference point is ordinary Amazon shopping rather than AliExpress, see Amazon Haul vs regular Amazon.

Which should you use?

  • Choose Amazon Haul for small, low-stakes items under $20 when you want to stay inside your Amazon account, can build a $25 cart, and value A-to-z coverage and a single support channel.
  • Choose AliExpress when you need something Haul cannot list, such as items above $20 or niche parts, and you are comfortable with a separate account and a seller-first dispute process.
  • Either way, check the delivery estimate and return terms before checking out, and do not count on either for something you need within a few days.

Amazon Haul Vs Aliexpress: FAQ

Is Amazon Haul better than AliExpress?

For small US orders of low-cost items, Haul is usually simpler: it uses your Amazon account, caps items at $20, ships free from $25 and is covered by the A-to-z Guarantee. AliExpress is better when you need items above $20 or a much wider range. Neither is fast; Amazon quotes one to two weeks for Haul, and AliExpress delivery varies by listing.

Is Amazon Haul like AliExpress?

In concept, yes: both offer very low prices, and many items ship from overseas. The difference is structure. Haul is a section of Amazon, so you use your existing Amazon account, checkout and customer service, with every item priced $20 or less. AliExpress is a separate global marketplace with independent sellers, its own account and its own Buyer Protection program.

Which ships faster, Amazon Haul or AliExpress?

Amazon says Haul purchases arrive in one to two weeks, and Haul orders are not Prime eligible. AliExpress announced US targets in March 2024 of 5 to 12 calendar days for Choice orders and 8 to 14 days for other orders. Those targets predate the 2025 US customs changes, so compare the delivery estimate shown for your address on each platform.

Does AliExpress have free returns like Amazon Haul?

Both offer free returns on eligible items. Haul allows free returns within 15 days of delivery on items over $3, with items $3 or less sold as final sale. AliExpress’s Buyer Protection page offers a Free Return service within 15 days of receipt on eligible items; its March 2024 US announcement described a 90-day window. Check the terms on each listing.

Which has better buyer protection?

They work differently. Haul purchases are covered by Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee and handled by Amazon customer service. AliExpress Buyer Protection promises a refund if an item does not arrive, arrives damaged or is not as described within the protection period, and asks buyers to raise quality claims within 15 days of receipt, starting with the seller.

Do you pay import fees on Amazon Haul or AliExpress orders?

US duty-free de minimis treatment for low-value parcels has been suspended for all countries since at least August 29, 2025, and a June 2026 CBP rule made the suspension indefinite, so overseas parcels are now subject to duties. Neither Amazon nor AliExpress has published how this affects individual prices, so compare the final total shown at checkout.
