Amazon Haul Import Fees & Tariffs (2026): Do You Pay Extra?

No. US shoppers see no separate import fee, customs charge or duty line on Amazon Haul orders. Amazon’s Haul help page lists item prices, a $3.99 shipping fee below the free-shipping minimum and sales tax, and in April 2025 Amazon said showing import charges on Haul “was never approved.” Tariffs can still affect item prices.

Key takeaways

  • A US Haul checkout shows item prices, shipping (free at $25 or more, $3.99 below) and sales tax. Amazon describes no separate import charge.
  • Amazon’s Haul team considered listing import charges in 2025; Amazon said the idea was never approved.
  • The US duty-free de minimis exemption ended for China on May 2, 2025, for all countries on August 29, 2025, and was suspended indefinitely by CBP rules on June 24, 2026.
  • Duties are now collected at import where owed, which raises costs for cross-border sellers; Amazon has not published how that changed Haul prices.
  • CNBC reported in late 2024 that Haul items were primarily shipped directly from China.

What changed in November 2026: on October 22, 2026, CBP extended to January 20, 2027 the compliance date for formal entry of certain mail shipments under its June 2026 rules. The de minimis suspension itself remains in place, and Congress has written its permanent end into law effective July 1, 2027. Last checked November 2026.

What you actually pay on a US Amazon Haul order

The table lists every charge Amazon describes for a US Haul checkout at amazon.com/haul. These are program rules, not product prices.

Charge On a US Haul order? Source
Item price Yes; every item $20 or less Amazon launch release
Shipping Free on orders of $25 or more; $3.99 per order below the minimum Amazon Haul help page; June 2026 Haul post

Sales tax Yes, where applicable; may be calculated before promotional discounts Amazon Haul help page

In short, the total in your Haul cart is the number to judge. If you want the full checkout walkthrough, our what is Amazon Haul explainer covers the store’s rules, and Haul’s discount tiers explains how the 5% and 10% reductions are applied.

Does Amazon Haul charge customs?

Amazon’s Haul help page, which sets out the store’s shipping fee, delivery times, discounts, tax note and return rules, does not describe any customs, duty or import charge to US shoppers, and Amazon has never announced one for Haul. In our checks for this page we also found no Amazon policy that asks Haul customers to pay duties on delivery.

That does not mean duties disappear. Under CBP’s 2026 rules, low-value shipments that once entered duty-free must now go through formal or informal entry, and CBP collects applicable duties, taxes and fees on them. CBP’s rules place that filing and payment on importers; Amazon has not said how Haul sellers handle it, only that it shows no import charge to shoppers. If a carrier, text message or email ever asks you to pay a fee to release a Haul parcel, do not pay it from the link; check the order in the Amazon app and contact Amazon Haul customer service first.

Why tariffs and de minimis matter for Haul

For years, US law let a shipment valued at $800 or less, imported by one person on one day, enter without duties under the de minimis rule. Low-price cross-border retailers built their models around it. That exemption has now been switched off in stages:

Date Change Source
May 2, 2025 Executive Order 14256 ends duty-free de minimis treatment for low-value imports from China Federal Register (CBP rule, June 2026)
Aug 29, 2025 Executive Order 14324 suspends de minimis for most imports from all countries Federal Register
Feb 20, 2026 Executive Order 14388 continues the suspension; Executive Order 14389 ends certain IEEPA-based additional duties Federal Register
Jun 24, 2026 CBP interim final rules suspend the de minimis exemption indefinitely, one rule for mail and one for all other modes Federal Register
Oct 22, 2026 CBP extends the formal-entry compliance date for certain mail shipments to January 20, 2027 Federal Register public inspection
Jul 1, 2027 Statutory termination of the de minimis exemption, enacted in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act Federal Register

The practical effect for Haul is on the seller side. Every low-value parcel from abroad now needs an entry, and any duties owed are collected. Tariff rates themselves have moved several times, including when Executive Order 14389 ended certain IEEPA-based duties in February 2026, so we do not quote a rate here: it depends on the product and its origin, and it can change again.

Does Amazon Haul ship from China?

Much of it, according to press reports. CNBC reported in December 2024 that Haul items were primarily shipped directly from China, and contrasted that with Amazon’s usual approach of stocking items in US warehouses ahead of time, which is faster but costs more. That direct shipping is a big part of why Amazon says typical Haul delivery is one to two weeks rather than Prime’s one or two days. Our guide to Amazon Haul delivery times covers what to expect.

Not every Haul seller is overseas, and Amazon has not published a breakdown by country of origin. What Amazon does say is that it screens the products sellers offer in Haul for safety, authenticity and compliance with applicable regulations, and that Haul purchases are covered by its A-to-z Guarantee. The April 2025 import-charge episode

On April 29, 2025, Punchbowl News reported that Amazon planned to show how much of a product’s price came from tariffs. The White House called the reported move “a hostile and political act.” Amazon responded the same day. Its spokesperson Tim Doyle told Engadget that the team running the Amazon Haul store had considered listing import charges on certain products, and that “this was never approved and is not going to happen.” No such line has appeared on Haul since.

Are Haul prices higher because of tariffs?

Possibly, but nobody outside Amazon has the full data, and Amazon has not published it. When duties are collected on parcels that used to enter free, importers’ costs go up, and some of that can show up in item prices. Against that, Haul’s own selection kept growing: Amazon said in November 2025 it had over one million items under $10, and by its Q2 2026 earnings call over six million US items under $10.

We do not publish an invented “tariff markup.” The site’s own price log is not live yet; when it is, it will appear on the Haul vs Temu price index. For the full list of reasons Haul can stay cheap, see why Amazon Haul is so cheap, and for how the same rules hit Temu, see Amazon Haul vs Temu.

Import fees outside the US

This page covers amazon.com. Other Haul markets have their own rules and currencies. Amazon.ca’s November 2025 Haul launch post, for example, sets Canadian thresholds in Canadian dollars and does not mention duties at all; the details are on our Amazon Haul Canada page.

How we checked this page

In November 2026 we checked this page against Amazon’s Haul help page and June 2026 Haul post, CBP’s June 24, 2026 interim final rule and October 22, 2026 compliance extension in the Federal Register, Amazon’s April 29, 2025 statement as reported by Engadget, and CNBC’s December 2024 reporting on where Haul items ship from. This is general information, not customs or legal advice. The site has no first-hand order log yet and will add one later. More Haul guides are on the AmazonHaul Guide home page.

Amazon Haul Import Fees: FAQ

Do you pay import fees on Amazon Haul?

Not as a separate charge. Amazon’s Haul help page describes item prices, a $3.99 shipping fee on orders below the free-shipping minimum, and sales tax, with no import, customs or duty line for US shoppers. In April 2025 Amazon said listing import charges on Haul products had been considered but was never approved. The total in your Haul cart is what you pay.

Does Amazon Haul charge customs on delivery?

Amazon describes no customs charge collected from US Haul customers at delivery. Duties on low-value imports are now collected at entry from importers under CBP’s 2026 rules. If anyone asks you to pay a fee to release a Haul parcel, do not pay through the link; check the order in the Amazon app and contact Amazon customer service first.

Are Amazon Haul items affected by tariffs?

Indirectly. The de minimis exemption that let parcels of $800 or less enter duty-free ended for China on May 2, 2025 and for all countries on August 29, 2025, and CBP suspended it indefinitely on June 24, 2026. Importers now pay duties where owed, which can feed into item prices. Amazon has not published how much Haul prices changed.

Does Amazon Haul ship from China?

Much of it does, according to press reports. CNBC reported in December 2024 that Haul items were primarily shipped directly from China, which helps explain the one-to-two-week delivery times Amazon quotes. Amazon has not published a country-of-origin breakdown, and it says it screens the products sellers offer in Haul for safety, authenticity and regulatory compliance.

Is the de minimis exemption coming back?

Not under current law. CBP’s June 24, 2026 rules suspend it indefinitely, and the Federal Register notes that the One Big Beautiful Bill Act terminates the de minimis exemption effective July 1, 2027. CBP later extended one compliance date for certain mail shipments to January 20, 2027, but that did not restore duty-free treatment.

Will Amazon show tariff costs on Haul listings?

Amazon says no. After Punchbowl News reported in April 2025 that Amazon planned to show tariff costs, an Amazon spokesperson said the Haul team had considered listing import charges on certain products, but that it was never approved and is not going to happen. As of November 2026 Haul listings show no separate import-charge line.
