Every month we price the same basket of 50 everyday items on Amazon Haul and on Temu, in the same week, from a US account, and publish the totals. The index answers one question with numbers instead of vibes: which is actually cheaper right now, and by how much. First edition: December 2026.
Method
- A fixed basket of 50 items across phone accessories, kitchen, storage, beauty tools, stationery, jewelry, pet, seasonal and basic apparel, matched by photo, dimensions and material (not by listing title).
- Prices recorded in the same 48-hour window on both platforms, before shipping, with any automatic platform discount noted separately.
- We report the basket total, the median item-level difference, and how many items were cheaper on each platform.
- Shipping is reported separately: Haul’s $25 free-shipping threshold versus Temu’s current policy at the time of the check.
- Only Amazon links appear on this site. Temu items are named, not linked.

What earlier comparisons found
Independent spot checks in 2024 and 2025 generally found Temu cheaper on most individual items, with Haul’s advantage coming from Amazon’s account protection, returns handling and the absence of a separate app. Tariff changes since August 2025 affected both platforms. Our index exists to replace those one-off checks with a repeatable monthly measurement.
