Does Amazon Haul Take Gift Cards? Payment Methods (2026)

Yes, in general. Amazon Haul runs on amazon.com, and Amazon’s gift card terms say your Amazon.com Balance can be spent on eligible goods on amazon.com, so a gift card balance can pay for a Haul order, with a card covering any remainder. Amazon publishes no Haul-only payment list, so the Haul checkout’s payment step is the final word.

  • Gift cards: Amazon.com gift card balance works on eligible amazon.com goods; if the order costs more, the rest goes on another payment method.
  • Cards: Amazon lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, its own Store and Visa cards, checking accounts and prepaid Visa, Mastercard or Amex cards.
  • Afterpay: not on Amazon’s US accepted-methods list; Amazon added it in Australia in 2025.
  • Affirm: Amazon offers it on eligible orders over $50, but its help page does not mention Haul.

Amazon Haul payment methods at a glance

Amazon does not publish a Haul-only payment list. The table below shows what Amazon’s accepted payment methods page lists for amazon.com, and what that means for a Haul order.

Payment method Amazon’s US rule What it means on Haul
Amazon.com gift card / Amazon.com Balance Usable on eligible goods on amazon.com Expected to work; can be combined with one card
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover Accepted Standard choice at Haul checkout
Prime Visa, Amazon Visa, Amazon Store Card, Amazon Secured Card Accepted; CVV required for Store Card Works like any card in your Amazon wallet
Checking account Accepted Shown if saved in your Amazon wallet
Prepaid Visa, Mastercard or Amex cards Accepted Useful if you prefer not to use a bank card
EBT, FSA/HSA, OTC benefits cards Eligible items only Amazon does not say whether any Haul items qualify
Affirm (pay over time) Eligible orders over $50 Not mentioned for Haul; check the checkout options
Afterpay Not on Amazon’s US list Not an option to plan on in the US

Does Amazon Haul take gift cards?

Amazon’s Amazon.com Balance and gift card terms (last updated 7 March 2025) say the balance can be redeemed for eligible goods and services on amazon.com. Haul is part of amazon.com, in the same app and on amazon.com/haul, so redeemed gift card balance sits in the same Amazon wallet you see at checkout. Three rules from Amazon’s pages matter:

  • Remainder on a card. If the order costs more than your balance, the rest must be paid with another payment method.
  • One card plus gift card. Amazon lets you split payment between one credit or debit card and an Amazon.com gift card, but not across several cards.
  • No gift cards bought with gift cards. The balance cannot buy other gift cards or prepaid cards, be cashed out or be moved to another account.

Redeem a physical or emailed gift card to your account before you check out, then confirm the balance shows on the Haul payment step. Haul uses its own cart and checkout, separate from the main Amazon cart; see the Amazon Haul cart guide for how that works.

Does Amazon Haul take Afterpay or Affirm?

Afterpay: Amazon’s US accepted-methods page does not list Afterpay. The Amazon-Afterpay tie-up that made headlines is Australian: B&T reported on 3 September 2025 that Afterpay was available on amazon.com.au and the Amazon AU app. Shoppers there can read our Amazon Haul Australia page.

Affirm: Amazon’s Pay Over Time with Affirm help page says it is available for eligible orders over $50, and excludes gift cards, subscriptions, groceries and some other categories. It does not mention Haul either way. Because Haul items are priced $20 or less, only a large Haul cart would reach $50, and splitting a cheap order into installments rarely makes sense. If Affirm is offered for your Haul order, it will appear on the payment step.

Amazon Haul gift card promos

Amazon has used gift cards as Haul prizes rather than discounts. Its June 2026 Haul post described a sweepstakes for one $5,000 Amazon.com gift card, where a Haul purchase of $25 or more earned an entry and a free entry was also available. That promotion ended on 29 June 2026; details are on our Amazon Haul sweepstakes page.

If you see a “gift card back” or credit offer for Haul, check it inside the Haul storefront and read Amazon’s terms before relying on it; we only list offers we can confirm on Amazon’s own pages. Promotional codes go in the same Gift Cards and Promotional Codes box at checkout, and Amazon’s promotional-code help page says that, unless stated otherwise, codes cannot pay for gift cards, sales tax, gift wrap or extra shipping costs. Why Haul rarely has codes at all is explained on our Amazon Haul promo code page.

How payment works at Haul checkout

  1. Build one Haul order. Shipping is free at $25, with a $3.99 fee below that, and the 5% (at $50) and 10% (at $75) tiers apply automatically. See Haul discounts.
  2. Choose payment. Select your gift card balance, a saved card or another method from your Amazon wallet.
  3. Check the total. Amazon’s Haul help page notes that sales tax may be calculated on the pre-promotion price, so the tax line can look higher than expected on a discounted order.
  4. Place the order. Amazon says Haul purchases are covered by the A-to-z Guarantee.

For the full shopping flow, read how to shop Amazon Haul. For refunds after a return, see the Haul return policy.

Payment declined or balance not showing?

  • Make sure the gift card is redeemed to the same Amazon account you are shopping with.
  • Check that you are not trying to split across two credit or debit cards, which Amazon does not allow.
  • Confirm you are using a personal account; Amazon says Haul is not available to Amazon Business customers.
  • If checkout itself fails, see Amazon Haul not working, or contact Amazon through our Haul customer service guide.

What changed in November 2026: nothing in Amazon’s published payment rules. Afterpay is still absent from Amazon’s US list, Affirm still starts at orders over $50, and the 2026 Haul gift card sweepstakes has ended.

How we checked this page

In November 2026 we read Amazon’s accepted payment methods page, its Amazon.com Balance and gift card terms, its Affirm and promotional-code help pages, its Haul help page and its June 2026 Haul post, plus the September 2025 report on Afterpay in Australia. The site has no first-hand order log yet, so we have not tested each method in a Haul checkout ourselves. For more on Haul, start at the AmazonHaul Guide home page.

Does Amazon Haul Take Gift Cards: FAQ

Can you use an Amazon gift card on Amazon Haul?

Generally yes. Haul is part of amazon.com, and Amazon’s gift card terms say your Amazon.com Balance can be redeemed for eligible goods on amazon.com. Redeem the card to your account first, then choose the balance on the Haul payment step. If the order costs more than your balance, Amazon requires another payment method, such as one credit or debit card, for the remainder.

What payment methods does Amazon Haul accept?

Amazon does not publish a separate Haul list, so Amazon’s US rules apply: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards, Prime Visa and Amazon Visa, the Amazon Store Card and Secured Card, checking accounts, prepaid Visa, Mastercard or Amex cards, and Amazon gift card balance. EBT, FSA, HSA and OTC cards work only on eligible items, and Amazon does not say whether Haul items qualify.

Does Amazon Haul accept Afterpay?

Not in the US, based on Amazon’s published list. Amazon’s US accepted payment methods page does not include Afterpay. Amazon added Afterpay in Australia, where trade press reported in September 2025 that it was available on amazon.com.au and in the Amazon AU app. US shoppers who want to pay over time should look for Affirm, which Amazon offers on eligible orders over $50.

Can I use Affirm on Amazon Haul?

Possibly, on a large order. Amazon’s Affirm help page says Pay Over Time with Affirm is available for eligible orders over $50 and lists excluded categories, but it does not mention Haul. Since Haul items cost $20 or less, you would need a big Haul cart to reach the minimum. If Affirm is available for your order, it appears as an option on the payment step.

Can I split payment between a gift card and a credit card on Haul?

Amazon’s payment rules allow splitting an order between an Amazon.com gift card balance and one credit or debit card, but not across multiple credit or debit cards. Its gift card terms add that if a purchase is more than your balance, the remainder must be paid with another method. Those Amazon-wide rules are the ones to expect in the Haul checkout.

Are there Amazon Haul gift card promotions?

Amazon’s main 2026 example was a prize, not a discount: during Prime Day it ran a Haul sweepstakes for one $5,000 Amazon.com gift card, with entry from a $25 Haul purchase or a free daily entry, and it ended on 29 June 2026. If you see a gift-card-back offer for Haul elsewhere, confirm it in the Haul storefront and read Amazon’s terms first.
